*Amended* A736 Closure March/April 2017

A736 CLOSURE 13 TH MARCH – 28 TH APRIL 2017

ERC ROADS DEPARTMENT AMENDMENT TO DATES AND DIVERSION ROUTES – 9 th FEBRUARY 2017

Representatives from Uplawmoor and Neilston Community Councils accompanied by Councillors Elaine Green and Paul O’Kane met on 2 nd February with officers from ERC Roads Department to discuss the closure/resurfacing of the A736 and the planned traffic diversions.

The Community Council requested a traffic light/convoy system be put in place but have been advised by ERC that statutory regulations do not permit them to operate such a system on a carriageway of this width.

As a result, we stressed the need for increased speed signage in Neilston, the road between Neilston and Uplawmoor and also in Uplawmoor village.

We also requested that a temporary speed limit be implemented between Neilston and Uplawmoor. The school crossing patrol on Neilston road was also raised as a major concern.

AMENDED DATES AND DIVERSION ROUTES:

Traffic management has been adjusted with Shillford Road and Shillford Mill Road now being used as a one- way clockwise circulatory diversion for both phases. It’s considered that this will minimise any delays associated with the temporary traffic signals and make the diversion route more attractive for drivers. The temporary 40mph speed limit on Shillford Mill Road and between Uplawmoor and Neilston will remain in force for the duration of both phases as previously agreed. The speed limit on Shillford Road will be similarly reduced. This temporary reduced speed limit will be reinforced by repeater 40mph signs in both directions.

The work will be carried out in 2 phases. Phase 1 from 13 th to 31 st March 2017 involves closure of the A736 from its junction with Holehouse Brae in Neilston to Shillford Mill Road, Uplawmoor. Traffic will be diverted from Barrhead via Neilston to Uplawmoor Road then turning right at Shillford Road to join the A736. Traffic from Ayrshire will be diverted from the A736 on to Shillford Mill Road, turning left at Uplawmoor Road to Neilston.

Phase 2 from 1st to 28 th April 2017 involves closure of the A736 from Shillford Road to its junction with Neilston Road, Uplawmoor. Traffic will be diverted at Shillford Mill Road leading to Uplawmoor Road, through Uplawmoor village to re-join the A736. Traffic from Ayrshire will be diverted through the village turning left at Shillford Road to rejoin the A736.

The local bus service from Neilston during Phase 1 will be diverted to Shillford Road, thereafter following the normal route. During Phase 2 the service will continue from Uplawmoor Road directly to Neilston Road turning at Tannoch Road and thereafter to Neilston.
